little bird

Originally made this as a sculpture design a year ago for a contest with all technical details, 3D model etc.

Planning to make actual plans from it with further construction details than which landed in front of the jury, This should be built some day.

Got it out of the drawer because of a current weekly challenge about drawing a rooster in the name of the chinese new year 2017.

Traced a previously rendered wallpaper and added in heavy filtering to this "rooster".

Modified some filters from the latest stone pack and wood megapack, and made some new ones from scratch.

Full size image available here.

wood grain megapack 2

Mega pack for the intarsia lovers. 1296 individual wood grain filters. Based on the previous weathered wood grain pack, with new variants added. Bit of improvement since the first megapack I hope.
This time three flood fills are used, for shade-middle tone-highlight colours.

plane tree

A season greeting drawn with pre3 0.92 inkscape release, gradient meshes and a wood grain filter.
Missed a dropshadow on the top. And some wood grain patterns mismatch. Still, I could finish it in the night. Time for some sleeping.

Edit: mentioned errors corrected, image updated. Some details still off.

stamper testing

Testing out the previous wood filter pack in remixing a clipart by Chrisdesign.

The shading could be enhanced a bit further.

weathered wood grain

This pack is based on three flood fills, uses a diffuse filter primitive and made with a pre0.92 inkscape release -and, includes some neat new blending modes.

inkscape 0.92 about screen

There is a contest currently, up for another week at inkscape.org for the 0.92 build's about screen.

Made this one for the contest.

May make some small changes later on, but generally I'll keep it.
Edit: this is the third updated variant, previous can be seen here.

Final version, with a lighter backdrop.

wood grain filter megapack

For a larger variety with intarsia designing in svg, made this new "mega pack".

864 separate wood grain filters.
As I see it the srgb colours are causing the bit of flat look.
All filters are using two flood fill filter primitives, and the shades in between are calculated linearly. May need some adjustment with a component transfer filter primitive for gamma correction or rebuilding from scratch where a new flood fill is added for that middle tone.
Enjoy:

intarsia design

A simple use of the previous filter pack.
To avoid the repeat of the wood grain pattern, a larger and filtered path was clipped to the rectangles and for the "cleaner" structure used cloning.
However cloning and group transformations messes up the whole thing, you cannot move the parent objects nor delete them with keeping this tiling pattern intact. What a bummer.
Also snapping to clip path nodes is not possible so it was a bit complicated to stitch together the pieces.
At least the result looks quite decent for an svg. (Made with inkscape)

Edit: adding a new variant made with the filter pack of the following post.

wood grain filter pack

Based on flood fills for darker and lighter shades, this is more of a colour pack for the same filter.
Although have made other slightly different filters before, this is the "most advanced" pack.
